Goodness of God

By Marshall Corrado
We need to know we are forgiven and are Loved before we will ever ❤ come to God.
Is it true that the goodness of God leads people to change thier minds and behavior towards God?  Or should we be teaching people “God wants to kill them and burn them up in hell unless they change. Well, I have been looking at the book of Ephesians for my answer. In chapter 1 the Holy Spirit is teaching us; Verse 2: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
(7) In Christ we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
(8) that he lavished on us.
Why do we think in terms of judgement before Grace?
Think about it in simple terms.
If I was to walk in my home everyday and say to my youngest son who struggles with behavior
“Son I’m here today and everyday to punish you for every bad thing you do now and for the rest of your life.”
What kind of father does that? What kind of father doesn’t give his son choices and options and strength to get out of the struggles. What kind of love doesn’t give a beautiful child a way out of his struggles? God’s love for us is so reckless for himself that He took the punishment for us on Himself and that He gives us the forgiveness and the power to say no to the behavior that’s killing us. He is for us not against us!
In Ephesians chapter 4 Holy Spirit teaching is about behavior change. About us living right.
But why didn’t He put it in chapter 1? Because He Knew we needed the forgiveness of our sins in chapter 1 and the grace and strength of God in chapter 1 is to say no to the behavior that was or maybe still killing us. Chapter 4 can’t be done with out the forgiveness and grace of chapter 1.
He is not mad at you. The true message is. He is a good father and when you come home with bad behavior He wants you to know He can fix it and help you out of any bad consequences or negative habit you have taken upon yourself. He is a good father.
